Just five years after Wisconsin began its swan restoration program, this swan was carved 25 years ago by Mike Valley of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. This beautiful swan comes from the collection of well-known decoy collector Richard W. Perkins.  Following his passing this spring, his life partner Dana Rocheford donated the carving to The Trumpeter Swan Society to help trumpeter swans, one of North America's most beautiful birds.  The Trumpeter Swan Society has worked for the past 50 years to bring the trumpeter swan back from the brink of extinction. The Society was proud to have Richard "Perk" Perkins as a board member helping the return of trumpeter swans.
