Join us for an information-packed, educational and fun three-day event in the beautiful and natural resources-rich area of Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

The theme for this year's conference is “Swans, Confluences and Rivers... Connecting People” This theme holds special significance as Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary is an important wintering area for Trumpeter Swans restored in other midwest states.

The Full Conference Registration includes two days of Presentations (Tuesday and Thursday), the all-day Field Trip (Wednesday), and Gala Banquet (Thursday evening).

When you register for the Tuesday/Thursday presentations, your fee includes:

  • Monday Meet and Greet hospitality (cash bar)
  • Access to all conference sessions and workshops on Tuesday/Thursday
  • Printed conference program
  • Poster presentation
  • Lunch, and coffee and light refreshments Tuesday and Thursday

Plan to attend all three days, or pick and choose your activities and days.  If you want to attend only one day of presentations, choose the Single Day option (Tuesday or Thursday).  Or maybe you want to attend just the all-day Field Trip and/or Gala Banquet so you can explore St. Louis or the Alton area on your own. You can do that too.  It’s up to you!

Conference Activities:

Tuesday and Thursday presentations:

The conference opens on Tuesday, November 19 with two full days of presentations on Tuesday and Thursday.  The registration fee includes lunches and morning and afternoon snacks on presentation days. To learn more about each day's programs, check out the Program page

 Wednesday:

Beginning promptly at 8:00 a.m., the bus will depart from the Best Western Premier Hotel for an optional all-day Field Trip on Wednesday will be a wonderful opportunity to see hundreds of trumpeter swans in overwintering areas as well as experiencing these unique floodplain habitats at federal refuges, sanctuaries and state conservation areas. We will travel along the Great River Road through the river bottoms, which will provide us with scenic views of the rivers and the unique river communities that exist along the river’s banks. Lunch is included.

Riverlands will be the last stop of the day and we will enjoy a great sunset at the Audubon Center at Riverlands watching trumpeter swans come back into their evening roost. Sunset is at 4:44 pm this day and swans by the hundreds return to the sanctuary from local feeding grounds every evening. A social reception will be held at the center with hors d’oeuvres and drinks provided. The bus will arrive back at the hotel at 6:00 p.m. For those that would like to stay longer a local shuttle will be provided.

Thursday evening Gala Banquet:

Following oral presentations and a poster session during the day, the Thursday evening Gala Event includes a delicious buffet dinner, a keynote presentation by locally renowned photographer Danny J. Brown, an award ceremony, and a fabulous silent auction. All proceeds support Trumpeter Swan conservation.
